Chocolate Gulab Jamun recipe:

Ingredients

  1. 1.5 cup unsweetened milk powder
  2. 3 tbsps all-purpose flour/ maida
  3. 1.5 tbsps cocoa powder
  4. 1.5 tbsps drinking chocolate
  5. 1/2 tbsp baking powder
  6. 1.5 tbsps ghee / clarified butter
  7. 355 gms sugar (Use half the quantity with I’m lite– 178 gms)
  8. 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  9. 4 tbsps grated chocolate pieces
  10. Oil for deep frying

Steps:

  1. In a wide mouth pan, add I’m lite with 2 cups of water and boil.
  2. Simmer the flame, let it boil for 5 more minutes and then switch off the flame.
  3. Add cardamom powder to it and stir. Our I’m lite syrup is ready now.
  4. In a mixing bowl, add milk powder, maida, cocoa powder, drinking chocolate powder, and baking powder and mix well. Sieve it through, twice.
  5. Add desi ghee. Using lukewarm water, knead it into a smooth and soft dough.
  6. Divide this dough into equal parts and make round balls. Take one ball, press it in the centre with the help of your thumb and put some grated/chopped chocolate in it for stuffing. Seal it and make a smooth round ball again. Repeat this step for all the balls.
  7. Heat the oil over low-medium heat and fry these balls gently. Fry few at a time, till they are nicely done.
  8. Take them out and put them in the I’m lite syrup. Make all the gulab jamuns by repeating this step.
  9. Let them soak in syrup for 2-3 hours and serve them warm.
