Sheera Special

Make your New Year Resolution come true!

Keeping a resolution is much harder than making one, especially ones related to weight loss and going on healthy food diets. If you make weight loss your resolution, just because you feel like it ‘should be’, doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have the commitment to follow through. Dealing with sweet cravings has always been one of the most difficult challenges we’ve experienced. Because we all enjoy sweet food, cravings might cause us to binge on a regular basis, disrupting our weight loss goals. So goodbye low calories? Wrong.

This New Year, we bring you the trick to weight loss and guilt-free consumption. What if the food you consume had its sweetness intact and worrying about calorie consumption is no longer an issue? With I’m lite, which is infact healthier than sugar, you could not only stick to your New Year Resolution of dropping the pounds, thanks to 50% less calories provided by this smart sugar, but not give up your favourite, everyday dishes.

Infact, let us show you just how easy it is to satisfy your sweet tooth without compromising your health by making sheera, a common Indian household favourite, only in this case we will make it with I’m lite:

Sheera Recipe

Ingredients:
For Roasting:

  • 2 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
  • 7 cashews / kajus (halves)
  • 2 tbsp raisins / kishmish
  • ½ cup rava / semolina / suji (coarse)

Other Ingredients:

  • 1½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar (Use half the quantity with I’m lite– 1/4 cup)
  • ¼ cup ghee / clarified butter
  • 3 drops yellow food colour
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder

Steps:

  • First, in a pan add ghee and roast the cashews and raisins on low flame. Once it turns golden brown, keep aside.
  • In the remaining ghee, add the rava and roast for 5 minutes on low flame. Keep aside.
  • In a large kadai, get water to a rolling boil. Add roasted rava slowly, stirring continuously. The rava will absorb all the water and turn into a lump-free mixture.
  • Now add I’m lite and continue to stir. Wait until I’m lite dissolves completely and gets absorbed by the rava.
  • Add ghee and yellow food colour. Mix well. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes until rava is cooked completely.
  • Add roasted cashew, raisins and cardamom powder. Mix well. Enjoy sheera with khara bath or serve as prasada.

A perfect blend of sugar and stevia, I’m lite provides the taste, look and sweetness of sugar but with low calories. So your deliciously sweet, soft, fluffy and rich sheera will not only continue being an instant family favourite but a healthy food favourite as well! Last but not the least, this will finally be the year where you can say that you not only made a New Year Resolution to lose weight but stuck to it too.
