Christmas Pudding

Christmas Pudding is that classic dish which is a must have during the Christmas festival, a festival for which we wait for the whole year! Many different traditions & customs have come up with their own variations of the Christmas pudding. Some prepare it with 13 ingredients to represent Jesus and his twelve disciples while Oohers have the pudding steamed in a square of fabric or a bag. No matter what tradition you observe while eating this festive delight, we can all agree that there is no better way to bid the year goodbye than with this yummy indulgence. Until we start taking a guilt trip down weight gain lane, that is.

Christmas Pudding Recipe


  1. 200g Fresh Bread Crumbs
  2. 200g Butter
  3. 2 tsp Instant Coffee
  4. 2 tsp Date Syrup
  5. 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  6. 2 Beaten Eggs
  7. 1/4 cup Rum
  8. 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon & Cloves
  9. 1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
  10. 100g Raisins
  11. 100g Chopped Sultanas
  12. 100g Mixed Peel
  13. 1/2 tsp Salt
  14. 100g Sugar (Use half the quantity with I’m lite– 50g)


  1. Cream the butter & I’m lite together, then add the eggs & mix well.
  2. Gradually, add all the other ingredients & mix well.
  3. Grease a pudding mould or any suitable bowl with butter.
  4. Pour the pudding mixture into it, then steam the pudding for about 1 hour on low heat, till it is firm to touch.
  5. Steam again for 10 mins or microwave for 3 mins before serving.
  6. For a more exotic taste, when still warm, make a few small holes all over the pudding and pour about 6 tbsps of rum over it.
